Well it really shouldn't because that's my Spartacus screenshot. But what I mean is, doesn't the layout look familiar? The allies bit? The energy, level, money etc? It's a social network game!
How do we get caught up in these games? They're so addictive right? And they're fun, and they help you pass the time, and it's Facebook!
When these games first came out I was determined to not get caught up in them. I saw one of my good friends come over to my house and she'd barely speak to me. She'd head straight for the PC and she'd sit there for hours on end playing these games. There was bejeweled, some sort of word twist game (I'm sure she'll correct me), there was farmville and other variations of the same farming game. It was insane. About three years ago I decided to give Sorority Life a shot because all my friends were on it and it was awesome to have loads of sisters and be able to get everything. Then when I got to level 50 thereabouts I realised this doesn't end! Furthermore, I'm doing the same thing over and over and over. It was uber annoying!
Next came Family Feud, when I got somewhere around level 4 and found that nothing I did gave me that one winnable item to move on to the next level, I gave up. About three weeks ago i started playing Spartacus because I love the show. The game was just the same as any other, repetitive! I decided I had to buy Gannicus in order to give the game meaning. Unfortunately for me I did not have enough credits. I had to fill out all these stupid surveys in order to get free credits. Although I love the game I'm not 'that' stupid to actually pay for credits. I wasn't alone though, there were a lot of people in forums trying to figure out how to get more credits.
Anyway, to the point. These games are quite pointless. You do the same thing over and over and over. It's sooo repetitive and all you do is level up. Nothing good comes out of it. I have a fair bit of way to go before I can battle my gladiators in Rome, right now I'm in Neapolis. It sucks the life out of you. If it was WoW I'd completely understand since Blizzard Entertainment updates weekly thereabouts and that is fun, there is no monotony in that. If you're not a WoW lover please do not argue because WoW haters will not understand and no it is not a geek thing.
So do yourselves a favour and quit the social network games and get back to life! It's like a drug though. You get withdrawal symptoms in the first couple of days but in time you can kick the habit.
I dedicate this post to my good friend, Miss K.K. Miller.
actually bejeweled is not a word game
ReplyDeleteI am aware bejewled is not a word game. I was referring to Text Twist the word game I could not remember at the time of blogging.
