Example at the Forum Hertfordshire |
You know there's this song in your head and you just can't get it out? Every time you hear it you go crazy and sing along? You love the song so much you have it on repeat? That's exactly how I feel about Kickstarts.
Start to think we could be fizzlin' out
Kinda shocked because I never really had any doubts
Look into your eyes imagine life without ya
And the love kickstarts again.
When I heard that song I fell in love. Didn't really pay attention to the lyrics until later on but I loved it. I've been accused of loving bubblegum pop music, but it's catchy. However, Example's music falls under a new genre, dubstep - originating in England. Dubstep is this awesome electronic dance music that is perfect if you love to be shaken by all that bass when you're listening to music.
Elliot Gleave, better known as Example is a British songwriter/rapper/singer. His rhymes are wicked and if you've listened to him acoustic he's a pretty decent singer as well. As my latest obsession I own Example's two studio albums Won't Go Quietly and Playing in the Shadows and I listen to them all the time. His music is so excellent I know most of his songs, but still get tied up around the rap bits.
I had the absolute pleasure to hear him play live during Radio One's Student Tour at the Forum Hertfordshire and it was freaking incredible! There are singers who rely so much on auto tuning that when they play live you wonder what the heck! Example isn't one of those. The way he sounds on his album you can expect him to sound the same live. In addition to sounding incredible live, he's a wonderful performer really getting the crowd going. With the dubstep parts of most of his songs, particularly on the Playing in the Shadows album, he encourages the crowd to bounce and he also encourages mosh pits! While I love Kickstarts and practically ever other song Example has done, at the live show I went mental to Wrong in the Head. When the dubstep kicks in it's AMAZING and you can't help but go wild!

Kickstarts doesn't have any dubstep in it and there isn't much rapping in it either but I love it because every time I feel like I can't deal with the vagaries of love anymore, I listen to the lyrics and I just imagine life without that special someone and I fall in love all over again.
