The quality of Barbie I'm accustomed to |
Yesterday I went shopping for a birthday present for my soon to be 8 year old niece. I decided that having grown up with two older brothers and only owning four Barbies (one is actually a Disney doll), my niece clearly needed some more dolls. My first thought was to buy her just some doll clothing and shoes but the clothes looked horrid and cheap despite being £15 for three crap outfits. I turned my attention to the dolls and my nephew pointed out "What the hell happened to Barbie's face? They don't make these things like they used to."

The crap clothing |
Comparing my Barbie dolls to the dolls that are produced now, the standards have seriously dropped. Barbie's face is fat and the painting of the face is atrocious. Barbie is this beautiful doll, with a perfectly symmetrical face, gorgeous eyes, the perfect lips and a pert little nose. The dolls these days are nothing like that. I noticed in a few of the dolls that Barbie doesn't even have a top. It's painted on! Who does that, how can you ruin Barbie like that? The accessories are also horrible. The furniture for the houses are crappy, the cars can only fit two and the clothing, I just can't get over how rubbish they are!
Sydney Opera House Barbie |
About a month or two ago I was browsing the collector's website to see what I might be interested in owning. The Sydney Opera House Barbie, crap! Not fashionable, but because I love all things Oz, I might buy her. Oh and did I mention that as a collectible she's cheap! I'm slightly disappointed with the designer dolls as well. Bob Mackie, Byron Lars, what happened to you all? Goddess of the Galaxy however does look amazing.

Then that brings me to Lego. Gone are the days when you didn't pay a hefty sum of money for loads of pieces. Now you pay loads of money for less pieces and the structures aren't even that awesome. It's all very disappointing.
