For years Lynx/Axe, depending on which part of the world you're from, has been making our men smell delicious! Their adverts are all about men being chased by women because they smell so incredible. In my opinion the giants at Unilever sure know how to bring in the bacon.
In this month's issue of Marketing magazine, there was the script of a phone call with Unilever with regards to Lynx for women. Being a fan of yummy smelling men I decided to check it out. After testing it at my not so local Boots and being pleased with the scent, I bought two bottles at 2 for £5. From a marketing point of view this is a clever strategy from Unilever. Without going into much detail about the marketing, this limited edition smells lovely, carries the Lynx brand and judging from the couple of bottles left at Boots, as a limited edition product, they're selling like crepes in Bicester Village.
The female deodorant market is quite busy with products. As a woman there is a trio I look for in a deodorant - a wonderful, long lasting scent, white mark protection and antiperspirant.
Scent
Lynx Attract for Her reminds me of Sure Protection deodorants that have a perfume scent. I am sure there are many other deodorants for women that are likewise perfumed. Lynx Attract for Her carries floral notes with hints of musk and vanilla. After my nightly shower I used it and while reading in bed I thought it was a bit overpowering. Twelve hours later after doing nothing other than lying in bed, the scent was still there. After a shot of it after a morning shower it lasted for about nine hours. Overall, I'm pleased with the long lasting scent. Being overpowering is not so much of an issue since it is a deodorant/body spray.
White mark protection
The recommended distance to hold the can away from your body is 15cm. Sometimes I hold it closer and in comparison to some deodorants I did not get any white marks from holding it too close. Also, no streaks on black clothing and no stains on white clothing. That's a second tick in Lynx's favour.
Antiperspirant
The bottle in no way suggests that the product is an antiperspirant, so I was pleasantly surprised that I still felt fresh after a mini workout, spending several hours in the kitchen cooking and dancing, and playing three games of DoTA. Three ticks for Lynx.
Packaging
The bottle is really cute. White and Pink. As a pink lover I cannot complain. The white background differentiates the product from the male one, which features predominantly dark colours so there is no way you can mistakenly buy the guy one, unless you did set out to buy Lynx for Men. Otherwise, the packaging is standard Lynx.
The downside
Although Lynx has met all my expectations in a deodorant there is one problem with it. It contains Alcohol. I am very fussy about my deodorant and I usually use Sure deodorants which contain 0% alcohol. Unfortunately the Clear Pure Crystal one suffocates me in the bathroom, so unintentionally I am subjected to substance abuse. No substance abuse worries with Lynx. When I first used Lynx I felt a tingling/burning sensation under the arms and for me that could only be caused by the alcohol in the product.
If you have problems with alcohol in your deodorants I suggest you stay away from Lynx Attract for Her. If you intend to use it as a body spray, go for it! But remember it is a limited edition product so either stock up if you love it or consider the chocolaty smell of Lynx Dark Temptation.
Lynx Attract for Her - 3.5/5 (I marked it down because of the alcohol.)
