Move over Nutella - Philadelphia Cadbury

Attention all chocolate lovers. Kraft has launched a new Philadelphia cream cheese that I reckon will give Nutella a run for their money. Blending its trademark medium fat soft cheese with Cadbury's milk chocolate, Kraft gives you Philadephia Cadbury.

Nutella has been mistaken for chocolate by some people. It is a chocolate hazelnut spread and if you are a chocolate lover as I am, you will know that Nutella can never be chocolate. I know some people who will sit with a tub of Nutella and just dip a spoon in and eat it. I cannot get past the hazelnut taste to actually enjoying Nutella so when I saw Kraft introduce Philadelphia with Cadbury I decided to give it a shot although I had a major doubt about it. As far as I was concerned this was doomed to fail since cream cheese has a distinctive slightly soured taste and adding chocolate to it might just have a soured chocolate taste. However, despite Kraft's controversial pursuit of Cadbury in 2010, I believe that Kraft has a winner in pairing Cadbury's milk chocolate with it's Philadelphia cream cheese.

Packaging

I bought the mini 4 x 30g tubs from Tesco and while the packaging is pure Philadelphia, the inclusion of Cadbury's purple makes the cream cheese stand out from amongst all the other Philadelphia on the supermarket shelf.

Smell & taste

When I opened up my mini tub it smelled just like Cadbury's chocolate mousse and I thought how would chocolate mousse taste on a bagel. So I toasted a cinnamon and raisin bagel, spread the philadelphia cadbury cream cheese, watched it melt on the hot bagel and I enjoyed! I gave my sister half of the bagel and she was pleasantly surprised by it. At first she thought it was Nutella and thought that something had gone wrong with the Nutella but she actually liked the chocolate cream cheese. There was no sour cream cheese taste. It was all chocolate.

Nutritional values

For the nutters out there who cannot simply enjoy something, here are the weightings of Philadephia Cadbury against Nutella for 30g unless otherwise stated.
If you weighed up the facts, for you nutters out there, Philadelphia Cadbury trumps Nutella. Chocolate lovers, consider making a switch to Philadelphia Cadbury from Nutella where you will get that chocolate goodness without the hazelnut taste.
