Review: Lip Glosses

According to my mum since I was a baby I was in love with Avon Flavour Savers in Cherry. Twenty four years later I'm still a hardcore user of Avon Flavour Savers in Cherry although I happen to use Strawberry once in a while for a change of flavour. Lately I've found myself experimenting with some new stuff and here are my reviews on a few.

Forever Aloe Lips with jojoba
Since coming to England I've found that with the cold weather I needed a lip gloss that moisturised for a long time. The Aloe Lips kept my lips moisturised for a long time and whatever dead skin there was on the lips came off with a slight rub leaving silky smooth lips. However, the consistency of the product wasn't something I loved. It reminds me of Vaseline except that when applied it pretty much melts on the lips and can go over the lip line. To avoid that, merely applying to the bottom or top lip alone and smacking your lips together will keep it all in place.

Avon Flavour Savers
These cute little lip glosses from Avon have been around for aeons and the packaging hasn't changed much. Probably just a font change here and there. The cherry flavour leaves a very slight red tinge but nothing very noticeable. It smells like cherries but according to a former beau it still tastes like wax. The consistency of the product is much better than the Aloe Lips. It glides on smoothly but when it is new a small chunk of it can come off on your lips while applying. One application of it can last about two hours but it comes off easily if you eat or drink anything.

Clinique Superbalm Moisturising Gloss
I got this little lip gloss as a freebie when I bought a magazine and I have to admit it is quite awesome. I've got the grapefruit lip gloss and it gives a tiny pink tinge to the lips and it also leaves a very glossy look. I was wary of this product because I've tried others before that was super sticky when applied. At first the gloss feels sticky but in actuality it is not. This is a hardy product. It can last all day and withstand eating and drinking.

MAC Cremesheen Glass
I've been meaning to try the MAC lip glass for a long time and finally found my way to a MAC counter and bought the Cremesheen Glass in Loud and Lovely, an incredible blueish pink. I really hoped that MAC would live up to my expectations and not be a sticky mess. In short - expectations met! Loud and Lovely over lined and filled pink lips looks amazing and it matches perfectly with my pink mac when it rains.

Revlon Just Bitten
Marlena on MakeupGeek did a review on lipstains and recommended this product so since Boots had it for £5.99 I snatched one up in Flame as I thought the Passion would be too bright for my complexion. I couldn't wait til i got home to test the product so I pulled off the wrapping in the car and applied. Sorely disappointed! The product went on beautifully on the bottom lip but failed to impress on the upper lip. There's a lip balm which one hopes could brighten up the otherwise dull look of the lipstain but it also failed to impress. At home I tried it again and was more disappointed when i shaked the tube and the lip balm bit flew away. I wasn't ready to give up on it so I tried the lipstain again the next day. It worked pretty okay but it didn't last very long and still had that complete I-drew-on-my-lips-with-a-marker look. I'm willing to give the product another shot but next time if it disappoints It'll definitely get the boot.
